Feature Requests

Our experimental multistream feature (i.e., stream to multiple distribution platforms from a single origin stream) has longstanding limitations around configuration and recoverability, especially w/r/t changing configuration midstream. We will ship several under-the-hood improvements such that multistream can be used confidently to reach broader audiences.

We will work to further reduce (1) the "time-to-first-frame" for VOD playback*, and (2) the time that it takes for a video to process. *TTFF refers to how long it takes for a video to start playing when a user tries to play it.

We will work to reduce the time from starting a video upload to availability of the uploaded video; this will be an iterative process with a goal of near-instant availability.

We will ship an improved version of our viewership API, allowing application developers to query viewership for arbitrary historical ranges, along the following dimensions: creator tag/id viewer tag/id browser country Please note that this will not include realtime views for livestreams, which will be addressed in a separate workstream.

To allow creators to better engage with each other and their audiences, we will offer a beta feature to allow streamers to build Instagram Live and Twitter Spaces -style experiences by leveraging sub-second latency

As an extension to our VOD token-gating work, we will add the ability for developers to encrypt and decrypt video that's stored in dStorage. This will allow for greater privacy for sensitive or exclusive content

As part of our continued effort to improve recording consistency and performance, we will migrate our legacy livestream recording logic to Catalyst.

We'll update our livestream recording pipeline to address several reported issues around processing failures and gaps. This work, which will ship in phases, will lead to better stability and faster processing time.

Users want the ability to upload to a dStorage provider when they create an asset, and not have to make multiple requests to create/upload the asset, and then upload to dStorage in another API call when the upload is successful.
